Political unrest in Pakistan affects foreign reserves

Pakistani foreign reserves have trembled under political instability and ongoing tensions which mainly include terrorism, are also affecting the foreign reserves. President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Ijaz Abbasi said:

‘Political uncertainty is the only factor pushing the market down and forced investors to offload their shares,’

He said the World Bank last month estimated that 33 countries were threatened with political and social unres

t because of the skyrocketing costs of food and energy, and Pakistan is among the list.

He said the dollar rose sharply against the Pakistani rupee and the only reason was the lack of political stability in the country. It definitely increases the trade deficit for the investors because we get fewer amounts form our exports and our imports cost us much due to the decrease in the value of rupee.

To prevent a sharp slide of the rupee against US dollar, the authorities should intervene and take the issue seriously; otherwise our economy will suffer a lot.

Zardari seeks more foreign aid to fight against terror

President Asif Ali Zardari has urged the international community to enhance Pakistan’s ability to fight militancy through a massive infusion of funds targeted at socio-economic development, education and employment, particularly in the tribal areas even as a key parliamentary panel has urged a peace deal with the Taliban in the country’s northwest.
Noting that more than half of the country’s 170 million population comprised youth below the age of 25, Zardari said:

“Their frustration with the current socio-economic situationand unemployment is creating a breeding ground for social unrest and militancy in the country.”

Pakistan is most likely to face a major energy crisis in natural gas, power and oil in the next three to four years...

Pakistan has been facing an exceptional energy crisis since the last few years. The problem becomes more severe during summers. However, this winter was no different. During the peak crisis there was a power outage of 3-4 hours everyday. Those without generators and UPS faced tremendous problems.

The prices of both continued to increase due to a sharp increase in their demand. During the Load Shedding hours every where whether in houses or the markets people are busy in turning off and turning on the generators or any other alternate energy source. The petrol stations are rushed with the office boys or the home servants in order to get the fuels for the generators. Can there be anything greater to cause Social Unrest than the Electricity Crisis? Now winters have already jumped in and the Load Shedding of Gas has been started without any notification. Can there be anything greater to cause Social Unrest than the Natural Gas Crisis? When the households or the Commercial unit doesn’t know that when will there be a Gas outage and when will the supply restore.

The policy makers of Pakistan have so far failed to understand one thing. They do talk about making dams and setting up nuclear power plants but why do they not understand the importance and benefits of alternate energy sources such as solar, windmill energy etc. They are cheap and quick methods for producing electricity. Pakistan is a very blessed country because solar energy is available in most cities all year round similarly wind energy is readily available in the coastal areas. These energy sources if tapped can be of great help in reducing the current demand supply gap.

These are tough times for Pakistan but the future looks a bit brighter with the help of our Heroes from Pakistan Army who are their to protect Pakistan from threats whether internal or international sadly there is a lack of leader ship in the so called Democratic Government but that hasn’t had nay impact on the ever strong leadership of the Pakistan Army and they are cleaning our the Taliban and the ones who pretend to be Taliban.Past few weeks the Northern Areas of Pakistan have been a battle ground between the Pakistan Army and Taliban ( & international conspirators ) who support the Taliban after all such heavy weaponry being used by them is not dropping from the sky but i am glad that this time its going to be a final battle and we as Pakistani must give moral Support to Brave Soldiers of Pakistan Army who are laying their lives for the protection of Pakistan which is not easy when the whole World is against you which most of them fail to understand !
Here is a must see video by Zaid Hamid on the current situation of Pakistan.

16th of October 2009

On 16th of October 2009, terrorists once again shuck lahore at 9:30 am, this time target was the same i.e. Police. Our protectors were attacked. The people who don't sleep, eat & sacrifice their family time rather Embrace SHAHADAT. More than 1200 Police personnel have embraced shahadat & more than 1700 have been injured. There were 08 suicide bombers, 04 each in Police training school Manawa & Elite training School BADIAN ROAD, wearing suicide jackets having at least 20 kilos of explosive with pellets, shrapnel & steel balls.

The roads of city which were bustling with traffic were empty by10 a.m. It looked & felt as if our own country was under attack; I was receiving calls from my parents, brother, family members & other well wishers about my safety. The whole social life set up of the city came to a Standstill. Shops, Bazars, Hotels, Markets went empty, the only place everyone was concentrating upon were the hospitals. People from all walks of life were terrified specially the students were really terrified. Terrorism directly effected the inner social fabric of the society, but the fabric of the society, but the Police fought bravely & still trying its best to keep the social life Interact.

Poverty

Pakistan as a nation is a developing country and consequently facing many social problems like economical, educational, political religious and many of it. And it’s very important to solve them but for this we have to solve the small issues first. As poverty is an other issue in Pakistan and as a result children are made to work in various ways. And this child labour issue in Pakistan is considered a violation of human rights by united nation. Pakistani society is such that poor child can quite conveniently be deprived of basic education, just because of his parents think that now it’s their child’s responsibility to feed the rest of his family members. Anyone up to the age of 18 is a child and his basic right is to receive education and proper upbringing rather than use his hands to destroy his own bright future and feed the rest of his family. Child labour is a serious social problem within Pakistan because the future and progress of any country depends on an educated and enlightened youth and if a child is not properly socialized then he/she will not be able to grow as confident and literate Pakistani citizens. So it’s our responsibility to tell others.

Beggary As a Cause of Social Unrest

Beggary has become a profitable business in Pakistan and is growing day by day. Professional beggars of Karachi are having a successful business. Even the police and administration seem hesitant to take any action against them.
Hoards of beggars mostly women and children are seen begging in markets, shopping centers, road and streets of the city. Public transport vehicles, especially buses, minibuses, coaches and local trains, are amongst the most profitable business locations for these professional beggars. Thousands of men, women and children beg regularly on these spots from dawn to dusk. They have many heart-wrenching stories to tell.
They claim they are not professional beggars but forces to beg due to some tragedies. These tragedies include needing money due to serious illness of self, parents or children; workplace accidents, prolonged joblessness due to one reason or another, etc. These professional beggars are pro orators and master persuaders. They often manage to soften the hearts of their listeners with their tragic tales told in tear-filled emotional voice.

Corruption

Pakistan is one of the most corrupt countries in the world. Corruption is having a destructive effect on Pakistan’s economy. The entire system of the country has been handled with misuse of power and ever increasing financial and political corruption. Many people believe that the under development, poor economy, increasing poverty rate and lawlessness, is due to corruption .Our government is so corrupt that any foreign country keeps a strict check on government if it gives fund for a specific purpose, even then the fund is not being spent for that specific purpose. Though every time a new government comes and promises to solve this issue but with time the government itself becomes corrupt. Pakistan’s political circles have long lost the pakistanis trust due to their frequent incidences of corruption, and hardly any public office is free from irregularities of some kind.

poor governance is the main cause of corruption. if the governance consists of honest people Pakistan would have gotten rid of corruption .Media, has played an extremely important role ,. media has helped people to recognize the truth and the most corrupt people in Pakistan but only discussion is not enough for eliminating this evil, we have to take an action against it. If Pakistan is to achieve sustained socio-economic development with healthy foreign investment, corruption must be eliminated at all costs. A strong government with honest and incorruptible people, will surely help achieve the dream of a strong, progressive Pakistan.

Unemployment Leads to Unrest

Unemployment is one of the major problems of Pakistan. I will enlighten some of the main causes of unemployment in pakistan.unemployment is increasing day by day and seems like never coming to end, It is the major cause of poverty, beggary and ultimately terrorism. one of the major cause of unemployment is increasing population of Pakistan, although government has taken important steps in this aspect by issuance of a policy that the people who plan’s to have more then two children will have to pay a tax, but still this has not been a success, the resources of Pakistan are limited because the population have exceeded the optimum level. other major cause is attitude of youth towards choice of a career ,they don’t have any mission to serve

Pakistan instead after getting a
higher education they go abroad .therefore instead of setting up a business in Pakistan they prefer to go abroad and in this way some people remain unemployed. computer technology is also one of the causes, these technologies get work from machinery without the use of any worker therefore technology can also be blamed. System of reference is so much high in Pakistan that companies don’t employee until one don’t have strong reference. Pakistan’s education system is not satisfactory government spending in education sector is very low with the result government is unable to produce quality graduates. therefore the system of unemployment will come to an end only when corruption, control on population, quality education and free education will be provided.

Fight Aginst Drug Addiction

Drugs have been part of our culture since the middle of the last century. They invaded all aspects of the society popularized in the 1960s by music and mass media. You probably know someone who has been affected by drugs, directly or indirectly now. People take drugs because they want to change something about their lives. They think drugs are a solution. But eventually, the drugs become the problem destroying and ruining millions of lives every year.

Lives are lost every day due to this disease, and they can be saved. While battling any addiction you should know that there is no easy way out. Lately researchers believe that they have found a way to stop drug addiction. Nanoparticles can be used to deliver specific molecules to the brain that can silence the gene that triggers drug addiction. DARPP-32 is a protein in the brain that facilitates addictive behaviors. Silencing of the DARPP-32 gene with certain kinds of ribonucleic acid (RNA), called short interfering RNA (siRNA), can inhibit production of this protein and thus, could help prevent drug addiction. The physical craving for the drug can be reduced therefore.

Pakistan is not alone in fighting this disease. The drug abuse has spread globally and the situation has gone from bad to worse, so much so that the United Nations Commission on narcotic drugs no longer discusses individual situations. The solution does not lie in the hands of individual countries. It has to be worked out through mutual efforts by South Asian countries.
Tobacco smoking is today by far the most popular form of smoking and is practiced by over one billion people in the majority of all human societies.

Pakistan politics is all the time remained full of different political issues form past to present. Every time there is new Government with new political issue. These political issues are caused by natives of Pakistan sometimes and by the foreign politics. All of these political issues did nothing except making Pakistan more and more week.

Pakistan and its people had even sacrificed there lives just because of these political issues. But Still many of them are alive and eating the roots of Pakistan constantly. And everyone knows this thing but no one still able to discord them from the country just because of that power they had.

There are many issues but some famous political issues of Pakistan that are of past and still alive are Kashmir, Kalabagh Dam. The present famous issues are restoring of judges, North and South Waziristan tribal regions clashes & violence with foreign forces, human rights violation in Pakistan and Taliban forces. Now days Taliban’s are a big threat to Pakistan, government is fighting fearlessly and we are hoping that this issue will be resolved very soon.

There are also many others major & minor political and religious issues and problems that Pakistan is facing everyday. Pakistan government and politics are still unable to solve any of these issues.

Inflation- general rise in price level

It means shortage of money or increase in the supply of money owing to such an increase in price. Actually it is a broad variable and complex term. In economics inflation means a rise in the general level of prices of goods and services in an economy over a period of time, resulting in fewer goods and services for a larger seen of money.

It has various kinds and forms, each having a different effect:

Creeping inflation: - healthy trend as it increases development.

Walking inflation: - affects savings.

Running inflation: - it is hard to control and it also affects consumption and savings. And it leads to economic recession.

Hyper inflation: -is disastrous and fatal to economy.

Cost push inflation: - it occurs when cost of production increases.

Demand full inflation: - result of aggregate demand of a commodity.

Inflation is usually estimated by calculating the inflation rate of a price index, mostly consumer price index. It is the percentage rate of change of a price index over time.

Its effects can be both negative and positive. Negative effect includes loss in stability in real value of money over term and discourages investment in savings. Positive effect includes a mitigation of economic recessions and debt relief by reducing the real level of debt.

Inflation can be controlled by a long term and short term sound economic planning. Market competition can bring about reduction or low rate of inflation. Indigenous industry should be promoted to reduce inflation. Accessible and cheaper goods can minimize the adverse effects of inflation. These can also provide people with alternatives. This may bring low standard of living but people are protected against adverse effects of inflation. Proper monitoring and regulatory control can help in reducing inflation. Retailers and hawkers sell things of daily use at their own will. They do so because there is no check and balance. There is nobody to enforce law and evaluate the prices at which things are sold.

Inflation can be viewed as an international phenomenon. Only sound planning by the government can avert it. Inflation is a misery and people can be saved from this misery through mutual effort.

Illiteracy Contributing To Social Unrest

Literacy is the best indication of a country’s educational status and education is the best path to a country’s prosperity. One of the major problem of Pakistan’s falling economy is illiteracy rate. Like many other Asian countries education is simply inadequate. The main reason for Pakistan education problem is due to insufficient government spending into education. While government officials claim that education is Pakistan’s new main concern this is simply inaccurate, even though they claim that government spending is satisfactory this educational fund is not utilized for this purpose.

One more reason is that Pakistan cannot afford to provide a 12-year education system similar to that of the western culture for every one of its children. The government has opened many schools on city, town, villages with free education but still the literacy rate is low. However upon closer examination it has been found that many of these schools in rural areas are not being used for education at all.illitracy in Pakistan is the main reason of poverty, unemployment and population. the government is claiming that there are

massive plans to significantly increase the levels of education as well as reducing level of disparity between men and women. Women’s rights have long been a global issue when it comes to Pakistan. In this culture women have been given a lower social status than that of men.

In Pakistan women education is very low because of honor issue. In this aspect, Taliban enforcement of a complete ban on female education in recent times in the Swat district, as reported in a January 21, 2009 Some 400 private schools enrolling 40,000 girls have been shut down, so the cause of illiteracy in Pakistan is not only poverty but also because of gender disparity.

Recent Energy Crisis

The economic engine and the wheels of industry, agriculture and business, need energy to move forward. On the social aspect, energy consumption per capita is a key indicator of the quality of life of the citizens and community. Unfortunately in Pakistan, inspite of tall claims by all governments, real solutions to meet the energy requirements of the nation have never been formulated or achieved. As a consequence, Pakistan’s economic, industrial and social growth has been greatly constrained. Due to an increasing gap in energy demand versus capacity, while

Successive governments put power generation and

availability of gas as a priority on their agenda, unfortunately, all plans of providing adequate and affordable energy to the citizens have failed to materialize.

The inability to implement energy projects has been attributed to inefficient planning and a commitment to national development.
The people of Pakistan are looking for positive change and relief from the burden

of a grossly inefficient & mismanaged energy sector. They are held hostage to the progressive increase in power load shedding, shortages of gas, and even petroleum products. The claims by the government that load shedding will end by December 2009 are nothing but illusions of the Ministry of Water and Power, while the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources has chosen not to make any claim on meeting the gas shortage.

Energy Crisis such as Load Shedding of Electricity in summers for the household

consumers and as well as the Commercial Units are contributing at large in the growth of Social Unrest rather making any growth to the Industrial or Agricultural Sector.

Summers of 2009 and 2008 in Pakistan were not less then living in

Hell. The Industrial Units were shut-off due to the lack of Electricity for which the owners of the private factories and mills suffered from great loss, and the households would mark this huge shortage of electricity as a benchmark for the coming years, in sense that they be well prepared for a larger Energy Crisis in the upcoming years.

Drugs Contributing to Social Unrest

Drug abuse involves the repeated and excessive use of chemical substances to achieve a certain effect. It brings about physical, emotional and behavioral changes. Every drug has its own different effects. Some, such as cocaine produce an intense "rush" and initial feelings of boundless energy. Others, such as a heroin produces feelings of relaxation and calm. Drugs over stimulate the pleasure center of the brain and as the time passes brain's chemistry is actually alters to the extreme where it becomes painful not having the drug. The need to use drug becomes more and more powerful and important than anything else, including job, friends and family, destroying work, relationships, and health.

In the last many years drug addiction has increased a lot in Pakistan and in South Asia general. It gets overshadowed by such as poverty and illiteracy which contributes to social unrest.

Today, the country has the largest heroin consumer market in the south-west Asia region. Pakistan is not only one of the main exporters of heroin, it has also become a net importer of drugs.

What is Energy Crisis...???

An energy crisis is any great shortfall (or price rise) in the supply of energy resources to an economy. It usually refers to the shortage of oil and additionally to electricity or other natural resources.
The crisis often has effects on the rest of the economy, with many recessions being caused by an energy crisis in some form. In particular, the production costs of electricity rise, which raises manufacturing costs.

KHUDHI KO KAR BULAND ITNA KE KHUDA BANDE SE KHUD PUCHE, BATA TERI RAZA KYA HAI

Poverty is an ethical concept, not a statistical one. Inherent in the term “poverty”,

When applied to human beings, is the notion of a life situation that should not exist.

It is not only lack of roti, kapra aur makan. Amartya Sen Aptly sums up many dimensions of poverty as lack of “capability” which includes capability to overcome violence, hunger, ignorance, illness, physical hardship and injustice. Poverty often lies in the absence of opportunity. It is not just the absence of food on the table.

Reports reveal that poverty in Pakistan has risen across time as compared to international level. World Bank has forced Pak government to revisit the poverty figures for the fiscal year 2008, due to the conflicting reports about the level of poverty in the country.

Subsequently, the World Bank re-visited the poverty estimates by Centre for Poverty Reduction and Social Policy Development (CPRSPD), which found a 4 to 5 percentage points increase in poverty figures in the last quarter of fiscal year 2008. State bank of Pakistan said that 25 per cent of the population is still living under the poverty line. SBP further said that there are chances of severe food crises and subsequent social unrest in the country.

This is expected to result in higher poverty levels in the country, while the causes of food crisis are thought to be widespread regional and socio-economic inequalities prevailing in different parts of our homeland.
